Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39 NLT
The purpose of Women’s Ministry at FBCR is to love and serve all women through relationship. Our leadership team invites you to connect with women of our church and community through Bible study, prayer, retreats, events and other ministries. By mentoring one another, we develop spiritual growth and learn to live life in a way that honors God. Through discipleship, our lives begin to mirror the image of Christ and then we replicate this process with others. We understand that women are faced with many challenges. Our ministry provides opportunities for you to find friendship, support and encouragement as we overcome life’s obstacles together. Christ’s work in us is worth celebrating. Because of this, praise and thanksgiving play an important role in our events along with fun activities and laughter!

MINISTRIES and DISCIPLESHIP
Jesus Story Hour
Ladies meet weekly to discuss the One Year Bible readings. Each week, we listen and share what Holy God tells us about who He is, His relationship with us and how it affects our lives. Our focus is on the week prior to our meeting date. You may join any session at any time. One Year Bibles can be purchased at the Welcome Center for $12.
- Tuesday Morning 9:30-11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday Evening 6-7:30 p.m.
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with Me.” And my heart responds, “Lord I am coming.” Psalm 27:8 NLT
Be Groups (mentoring)
God designed mankind for relationship. Mentoring relationships, in particular, call for a closer, more intimate fellowship. This is developed over time and through orchestration of Holy Spirit. As a women’s ministry team, we strive to “love and serve all women through relationship” - mission statement of FBCR Women’s Ministry Team.
Upper Room
Once a month, ladies meet to pray for our pastor, staff, ministries, families, church, community and missions. Join us as we fight our battles in prayer! We meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 NLT
MMC (Making Motherhood Count)
We are a group for moms--pregnant through moms with preschoolers up to age 6. MMC meets September through May on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 am. We also have play dates on the fourth Thursday of each month at various places. MMC is a preschool mom group where women come together for community in Christ on this journey of motherhood. We spend time together growing in friendship, discussing the Bible, doing crafts, games and more. Need a little mom connection? A little adult conversation? A moment to sit still? We do, too. We're here for you. Come share the journey of motherhood with women in the same season of life -- you don't have to feel alone! Childcare is provided for birth-age 6. For questions, please contact Lori Etter, Minister of Preschool & Families, lori@fbcrussell.org ext. 1013 or Tina Sparks, Minister of Children & Families, tina@fbcrussell.org ext. 1011.
Stitches of Love
Looking for a new challenge? Perhaps you’d be interested in learning an old craft! Stitches of Love quilt guild is a group of ladies that meet at our church every Tuesday from 9:30-12:30 a.m. Our goal is to teach, create, worship and minister to others through the art of quilting. We have made many quilts. Baby dedication quilts, mission quilts for Africa, veteran quilts, quilts for the homeless and prayer quilts for seriously ill church members to name a few! Other projects include pillowcases and dresses for children in Africa and quilts for the Uganda school.
If you would like to be a part of this growing and creative fellowship for ladies, just grab your sewing box and join them on Tuesdays! For more information call Anna Adams (606) 833-8937.
Women on Mission Prisms
A desire to reach out to the community led to the formation of Prisms in 1990. Members pray for and learn about missions, give to missions, and go as God leads. They seek to allow the light of Christ to be dispersed and reflected through them in a world of darkness. Activities assist all ages -- the lonely, hungry, brokenhearted, forgotten, discouraged, tired, and abused. They need a loving touch, and they need the Lord!
Prisms recently began ministering monthly to women in residential treatment at the Ramey-Estep Homes. The Re-New clients enjoy devotions, music, crafts, and fellowship. Hats off to Bibles from Him, which provides each woman in the program with a journaling Bible. Prisms received access to Re-New because of a longtime ministry to teen girls in residential treatment on another part of the Ramey campus.
The group has also enjoyed ministering to out-of-town carnival workers during Summer Motion; Dinner and Devotions and Adopt-a-Senior with ladies at the Hillcrest-Bruce Mission; a Valentine's Day nursing home ministry to men and women; encouraging teen girls in a human trafficking support group at Hope's Place; and decorating a nursery at Lily's Place for babies born into drug addiction.
There's a place for you in this mission group! For more information, email Pam Holbrook at holbrook.pam88@gmail.com or text or call (606) 922-5274.
