Deuteronomy 6:5-7 says: Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. IMPRESS them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, and when you lie down and when you get up.
Nestled in this passage is the word “impress.” What does it mean to impress something? IMPRESS is defined to mean: make a mark or design on (an object) using a stamp or seal; imprint. The Bible tells us that Christians have been commissioned to be missionaries entrusted with the sacred purpose of sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are to imprint this message on the lives of those around us, beginning in our homes. As a result, we as a church body at FBC Russell, believe family is the primary source for faith training and disciple making. One of the greatest ways we can impact our world is by impacting our families – one home at a time. Ravi Zacharias said, “The greatest strength of any society is in its home.” As a result, one of the greatest measures of the strength and health of any nation is the state of the family in that nation. We want to impact our community by partnering with families to impress the Good News of the Gospel upon their children – one family at a time.
